- Date:
- 1914
- Description:
- In this historic photograph a man with his back to the camera is reading a trail marker. The man is standing on a trail that runs along the bottom of the image. The trail is covered in grass and it is surround by a wooded area where deciduous trees and leafy plants are growing. The man is wearing long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and a hat. He carries a large knapsack on his back. The marker in front of him is attached to a leafy, deciduous tree and reads "The Long Trail To Mt. Horrid." It appears to be summer. This is from a collection of photos that show Herbert W. Congdon and two non-commissioned men from Company A, 23rd Regiment of the New York National Guard. They are hiking along the Mansfield to Brandon-Rochester Pass.
