Description:
The completed highway. Mr. Andrew Abboushi writes on 2008-12-26: This image of interstate highway number 89 in South Burlington, Vermont dates back to 1964. The highway itself continues straight across a bridge and then curves to the left at the end of the photograph. On the right, the embankment rises approximately 30 feet and at the crest a tall forest begins. On the left, the embankment slopes away from the highway and the forest is at even level with the road. The highway itself is two lanes northbound and two lanes southbound. There is a strip of grass dividing the highway that is approximately 10 yards across. At the bridge structure, both sides of the highway are independently supported with an empty space in the center.
