Town:

County:
Windham
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11
Description:
This image is a screenshot from a movie made using actual footage from the 1927 flood: This image is from a clip of the 1927 Flood Movie that begins with the caption "The Connecticut River washing against the Charlestown Toll Bridge." This image shows a base of the Charlestown Toll Bridge, spanning between Charlestown, N. H. and Bellows Falls, Vermont. This image shows debris stacking up against the base of the bridge. During the flood large pieces of debris were carried into other objects, knocking many of them out. The Connecticut river was no exception ad this bridge was even expected to be wiped out by another bridge being carried downstream, though this bridge survived.
