Title:
Aerial of Interstate 89 and the Lamoille River
Town:
Colchester
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1967-05-29
Description:
The photo shows an aerial view of I-89 with the Lamoille River in the foreground and on the right. A few farm fields and a house are beside the interstate with a large outcrop in the center. Note the rolling hills, mostly forested in the background. There appears to be soil spilling right from the construction zone into the river which has a barren riparian zone over much of the image.

Description:
In this photo the Lamoille River can be seen coming down the right side of the photo, with the interstate running horizontally across the bottom. The left side of the bridge that connects the interstate over the river can be slightly seen in the right corner. In the background the Green Mountains can be seen with a horizontal strip of open land and houses running along the base of the mountains. The river curves from the middle of the picture down to the right corner. The rest of the area by the highway and the river all the way to the open space by the mountains is heavily forested with deciduous and coniferous trees and dotted with small neighborhoods of houses. In the middle of the photograph in the background on the mountain there is a vertical strip running east and west that looks to be cleared and has no trees growing on it. Note the increase in vegetation in the riparian zone.
