Photochrome (1939-Present)

Around 1939, the color photochrome postcard appeared. These high-quality photographic images were introduced by the Union Oil Company and stocked at their western service stations. The new postcards spread slowly during the WWII years but virtually replaced both the linen and black and white postcards by 1945.
