This color photograph captures vivid leaves on an autumn day in 1946. A cluster of deciduous trees with bright red and orange leaves stand on a hill that slopes gently downward from the right to left side of the image. The trees are still relatively full, and there do not appear to be leaves scattered on the ground. A much younger deciduous tree grows further down the hill, at the left edge of the image. This small tree is bare at the top and is full with yellow leaves near the bottom. Two conifers can be seen in the background, behind the red and orange trees.
