Title:
109 South Prospect Street
- Date:
- 1895 - 1958
- Description:
- This historic photo shows the building located at 109 South Prospect Street, as viewed from the UVM green. The green is populated with large deciduous trees, and a paved walking path cuts across the green to the road. Utility lines are also visible crossing the road at this location. Across the street, the house at 109 has a yard full of flowering shrubs and well-manicured lawns. The house appears to be three stories, with very ornate finish work under the eaves and large fenced off balconies. The chimney from 436 Main Street is visible in the background. The vegetation suggests a summer season. UVM Campus. Loona Brogan writes on 2006-10-18: The historic photo was taken before the magnolia trees that grow to either side of the entry walkway now. So this photo is at LEAST from before 1970. The large baldish-looking tree on the left side of the image has the branching personality of a short elm-- maybe a slippery or Chinese elm instead of an American elm... much has changed with the landscaping of this building.
