Title:
Alburg-Rouses Point Bridge1
Town:
Alburg
County:
Grand Isle
State:
Vermont
Date:
1989
Description:
This aerial photo was taken of the new Alburg-Rouses Point Bridge across Lake Champlain during the summer of 1989. This photo was taken from over Alburg looking southwesterly towards Rouses Point Village in New York State. The new bridge was opened to traffic on September 22, 1987. Notice the old railroad trestle crossing the lake to the south of the highway bridge. The westerly end of the railroad trestle serves as a dock for a marina. In the lower right of the photo you can see the remains of Fort Montgomery better known to some as Fort Blunder because part of the fort was built in Canada. You can also see dark shadows from clouds on the lake surface.
