Title:
Aerial View of Middlebury, looking north
Town:
Middlebury
County:
Addison
State:
Vermont
Date:
1941-04-29
Description:
This black and white photograph surveys the town of Middlebury from the air looking north. Otter Creek is visible meandering along the left edge of the photograph. Before flowing under Battell Bridge of Main Street, it is crossed by an iron railroad bridge. On either side of Battell Bridge the large commercial buildings of downtown are visible. The white steeple of the Congregational Church at the top of Main Street is visible in the upper left corner. Vermont Route 7, lined by buildings, runs diagonally out of the image in the lower right corner. To the right of Route 7 there is an oval track, perhaps the town's fairgrounds.
