Description:: This is a black and white photograph of a railroad wreck in Bennington. This image was captured on September 7th, 1912. Railroad tracks run down the right side of the image. The railroad trains have crashed into one another. The back end of the train is destroyed; train cars are falling off the tracks, wood is splitting and metal is bent. There is a cluster of individuals pictured toward the back left of the image. Utility lines run down the left side of the image. Leafy deciduous trees dot the landscape around the train wreck. Bill Badger writes on 2013-05-24: This is not the Bennington milk train wreck of 9/7/12. Compare to image LS31778_000, which is of the Bennington wreck. This wreck is at an unknown location on an unknown railroad. Tim Wager writes on 2015-11-30: Bill Badger is correct, this is not the fatal train wreck of 1912 in Bennington. Both engines were derailed in that wreck and the passenger train engine was hit so hard that it was twisted around and faced the opposite direction
