Title:
Highway Construction in Danby
- Date:
- 1961-09-18
- Description:
- This black and white photograph looks north over a highway construction site in Danby. The existing road is just visible at the left edge of the image. Utility poles line the road. The new road bed that is under construction passes up the right side of the image. Two steamrollers spread asphalt over the road surface. Dirt and rocks are piled alongside the roadway. Open fields spread out on either side of the construction site, while forested hills and mountains rise in the distance. The season is summer. Herbert Ogden writes on 2017-01-04: This is Mt. Tabor, not Danby. It shows new US 7 and, at left, Troll Hill Rd. (old US 7) just north of the South End Rd.crossroad. Green Mountain is in the center.
