Town:
Guilford
County:
Windham
State:
Vermont
Date:
1900?
Description:
This is a picture of the young boy, Archie Burnett, holding a wild cat that he shot in Guilford, Vermont. He is wearing winter boots with gaiters. He also has wool pants, a warm jacket, and a white button up undershirt. On his head is a wool hat with a short brim. His gloves are keeping his hands warm while he holds a musket in his right hand and a dead bobcat (lynx rufus) in his left. He is standing in front of a hunting camp. On this building, there are two four-paned windows on the first floor and a six-over-six paned window on the second floor. This camp is lined with board and batten siding. The photographer, Ray Gates, shows snow-covered ground with icicles hanging off the eaves of the building. In this picture, there are three stacks of crates. The one to the right of Archie is on a stool, and the one to the left of him is also on a stool. The one behind him is on the ground and is a stack of three crates. It could have been a beehive.
