Mill After a Fire

Title:
Mill After a Fire
Town:
Barnet
County:
Caledonia
State:
Vermont
Date:
1869-12-15
Description:
This image shows a stereoview of a ruined woolen mill. The black streaks near the mills window indicate that the building was destroyed in a fire. Debris, possibly from the fire, is collected on the right side of the mill. There is an unknown piece of machinery in the foreground of the photograph. There are also several people in the image near the building and on the left. There is no vegetation visible except for a lone leafless deciduous tree near a small building on the right. The ground appears to be covered with snow so the season may be winter. Esther Munroe Swift writes on 2005-4-2: Note the large piece of equipment (possibly a lathe) & the man who appears to be looking at it in the foreground. Dave Warden writes on 2008-02-28: Another view of the woolen mill fire of Dec 15, 1869 at Barnet village Probably all photos of this fire would have been taken by Barnet's photographer George Aldrich
