Title:
Train Coming into the Center of Middlebury
- Date:
- 1939-02
- Description:
- This photograph depicts a train pulling through the center of Middlebury in February of 1932. The railroad tracks run right through downtown Middlebury. On the left, Merchants Row can be seen, along which several cars are parked. The steam from the train obscures the intersection of Merchants Row with Main Street, but to the right, automobiles along Main Street are also visible. The brick building to the immediate right of the train is the side of St. Stephen's Church on the Green of Middlebury. Utility wires run over the railroad tracks. Wire fencing lines the top of the slight hills on either side of the tracks. All image rights reserved to Henry Sheldon Museum, www.henrysheldonmuseum.org.
