Title:
Boy and Porcupine by Dunsmoor Lodge
- Date:
- 1920-08-25
- Description:
- Part of the Herbert W. Congdon collection, this hand-painted lanternslide depicts Leverett T. Smith with a dead porcupine that he has impaled with a long white stick. Smith is wearing a long sleeve shirt, long pants, high socks, and boots, and is wearing a red checked kerchief around his neck. The corner of Dunsmoor Lodge is visible, and a tall wooden post stands vertically to the right of Smith. There also appears to be other felled lumber behind Leverett T. Smith. The area in which he is standing is fairly cleared, with various roots, sticks, rocks and dirt. The area behind the lodge is filled with more forest and understory plants, as well as deciduous and coniferous trees.
