Title:
"Journey's End" Lodge on the Long Trail
- Date:
- 1933
- Description:
- This hand colored lanternslide shows a lodge on the Long Trail. The lodge is a small, primitive, eaves-front, wood framed building with a gable roof. A window is located on either side of the entrance, and the one of the right of the image is hinged so that it flips open but remains attached to the windowsill. The window on the visible side elevation is identical. A metal chimney pipe exits the lodge above this window. The foundation is made of rubble stone. There is a man sitting in front of the lodge on a wooden bench. He is wearing a long-sleeved shirt, pants rolled up to his knees, boots, and a cap. Another similarly dressed man is seated in the entrance. There are two shovels as well as some buckets next to him. A third man is standing inside the lodge, but his head is visible through the side window. There is a barrel below the window. The lodge is located in an open, grassy field, but there are coniferous and deciduous trees behind the building.
