Description:
The historic image shows the White River Valley after the flood of 1927. A caption at the bottom of the image reads, "11-8-27-11:15A. Railroad Bridge South of Sharon, Vt." The bridge was wiped out in the flood. Sediment deposited by the flood is visible in the floodplain. The riparian zone is mostly bare. Partially forested hills surround the river valley.

Description:
The recent photograph shows the same area with an expressway along the left side of the image. The railroad bridge wiped out in the flood has been reconstructed. Some buildings and parking lots have been added to the land near the bridge. Much of the landscape and riparian zone have reforested. See LS01449 for another image of the bridge.
