Title:
Aerial Photograph of the Black River
Town:
Ludlow
County:
Windsor
State:
Vermont
Date:
1927-11-08
Description:
The historic image gives a bird's eye view of the Black River traveling through town several days after the 1927 flood. A caption at the bottom of the image reads, "11-8-27-10:15A. Ludlow, Vt." The riparian zone looks mostly bare. Some erosion is visible along the bank of the river near the center of town. Sediment deposited by the floodwaters is visible in the open fields along the river. The landscape around town is a combination of open fields and forests. There are mountains near the top of the photograph.
