This postcard was sent Aug. 19, 1906 and was authorized by an Act of Congress May 19, 1898. It shows about 60 boys, their adult male counselors and tents in a field near Silver Lake. Esther Munroe Swift writes on 2005-1-26: Originally known as just Franklin Pond, this is one of a half dozen ponds which had their names changed to Silver Lake to be more attractive for summer visitors.
