Construction of Shelburne House at Shelburne Farms
Town:
Shelburne
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1888
Description:
Image property of Shelburne Farms Collections. All rights reserved. May not be reproduced without permission. 1611 Harbor Road, Shelburne, VT 802 985 8929. This historical photograph is of Shelburne House under construction at Shelburne Farms, in the spring of 1888. The Webbs moved into this house in May 1888, so the photo must be shortly before that, since the snow is already gone. Notice the steps leading to nowhere in the foreground, which probably led to the original farmhouse on the site. The small wooden building may be an outbuilding of that farmhouse, or possible a construction building.
