Alburg Bridge under Snow

Description:: Photograph shows a drawbridge under snow. Craig Bunten (WQ2007) writes on 2007-01-04: This winter image shows the drawbridge connecting the Lake Champlain islands of North Hero and Alburg on U.S. Route 2. The leafless crowns of several trees are visible over the top of the drawbridge. Concrete piers have been sunk into the lake bottom to support the drawbridge. Mounds of dirt have been built up on either side of the bridge elevating the road grade to the level of the drawbridge. The surface of the lake is frozen and covered in a thin layer of snow. Dirt and rock in the foreground indicate the direction of the wind from right to left, having left small piles of snow on the leeward side.

Alburg Bridge

Description:: In this image there is a bridge which is connecting Alburg and North Hero. The photo is taken from the Alburg side. There is a tower over the bridge for electrical cables to cross over the lake. In the background on the right a few trees are present. This image was photographed in March. The only minor difference that is present between the two images is that in the original there is now tower for power lines. The original was also taken in winter when the lake was frozen.
