Farm Along Lake

Title:
Farm Along Lake
Town:
Salisbury
County:
Addison
State:
Vermont
Date:
1892 - 1906
Description:
This image shows a farm house and barns with farm fields along a lake. There are forested hills across the lake. There is hay cut in some fields and corn standing in others. Very large buildings are on the opposite shore of the river, one with a flag pole; they look like a resort or compund? Near the barn are stacked what look like shingles. There are all kinds of walls and fences including a stone wall with a split rail fence over it and also stockade and picket fences. The field in the forground is very stoney with one conifer. This looks like summer. There is a utility pole on the right side of the image. An unidentified user writes on 2005-1-21: This photo is of what now is the State Park looking west toward Sunset mountain. Bill Powers writes on 2005-2-28: This is the Loyal Kelsey Farm on the present (2005) site of Branbury Beach State Park, Lake Dunmore, Salisbury, Addison County, Vermont. This picture was taken prior to May 1906 when the Lake Dunmore House/Hotel burned (in distant background on the right) and after 1892 when the Mount Spring House/Hotel was built (in distant background on left). The Mountain Spring House/Hotel was renamed the "Lake Dunmore Hotel" in 1911-12.
