East Hall was demolished is the 1960s. East Hall
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1950 - 1960
Description:
This historic photograph is of East Hall facing east. In the foreground is a utility pole with wires running horizontally. A bare deciduous tree enters the field of vision on the left and a branch of a different deciduous tree enters on the right. East Hall is a one story wooden structure with white framed windows. There are four long wings that extend horizontally, north to south, in the photograph. Two wings transect the four, west to east. There is a ramp to the door of the wing closest to the camera. There is a walkway between the two middle wings. The two eastern wings have stairs on the outside. On the west side of the eastern most wing is a large brick chimney. Beyond East Hall there is a green space with people walking. A parking area with five cars cuts horizontally across the photograph. Beyond the parking area, the Chittenden dormitory is in the middle ground and the Buckham dormitory is visible on the right side of the photograph. Both buildings are brick structures with white stone accents around the roofs and edges of the buildings. Three conifer trees are to the left of Chittenden. Beyond the dormitories are the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center and a parking lot full of vehicles. Beyond the hospital on the right are more brick buildings of various heights. To the hospital's left is a brick building. In the distance are rolling hills with forests and housing developments. Mountains are visible in the distance in the right of the photograph.
