Description:: This historical photograph shows the front entrance to Bailey Howe Library. A paved path leads to the library entrance, which consist of a series of two terraces connected with brief flights of stairs. Lining this walkway are various shrubs and hedges, giving a very professional look to the building. Upon the terraces sit numerous college students, two lampposts, and numerous bicycles. Fallen leaves are visible on the green in the foreground, indicating the season is autumn. UVM Campus Herbert McArthur writes on 2008-01-20: Image most likely 1961 or 1962, when library was new.

Bailey Howe Library

Description:: The current photograph of Bailey Howe Library shows that most of the terraced entryway has been removed, with only the terrace connected to the building remaining. Adjacent to this terrace grow hedges near the side of the building. In the foreground, recent construction has turned the green in front of the library in to a parking lot filled with numerous cars and trucks. The green is also vegetated by large oak and coffee trees. A metal fence has been erected on the left side of the green to mark off the construction zone. The season is late spring. UVM Campus
