Title:
The closed bookstore
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2007-04
Description:
Another angle of the old UVM bookstore shows that they have taken off the letters where it used to say "bookstore" and there are also signs explaining that the bookstore is now in the Davis Center. Again, it is clear by the fences that nobody can get into the old bookstore, so the signs on the door indicating it is time for "book buy back" are also indications to walk around the fences to the new Davis Center.

UVM Book Store Storefront
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1977
Description:
In the historic photograph, a solitary paper dispenser stands guard at the entrance of the UVM bookstore. Behind "The New York Times" dispenser the bookstore sign is visible (but not legible), as a large paved foyer ushers visitors towards the building. On either side of the foyer are places dedicated for flowers or hedges; however, only piles of tree limbs are currently found there. Further off to the side, large deciduous trees are visible extending over the bookstores entrance as well as Morrill Hall's chimney. The bookstore is partially covered in ivy and appears closed. The lack of leaves on the branches of the trees at the edges of the photograph suggests the season is either spring or fall. UVM Campus
