Description:
The current photograph shows Waterman Building on the corner of College and South Prospect Streets looking north. Dewey Hall is the building at the end of South Prospect Street. The University Green is on the right side of the photograph. Waterman can be seen only partially though the hedges and deciduous trees. It is a three-story brick building with white marble accents. The season is summer. The change between the photographs shows the demolition of the Campus House and the construction of the Waterman Building. The road has been widened. The elm trees are gone. The plantings in front of the new building are completely different.

The historic photograph shows the former Campus House on the corner of College and Prospect Streets. Accompanying the photograph is a type written excerpt from the University Cynic dated 11/15/1919, "University Acquires Pease House for Co-eds. Built in 1827 by Samuel Reed of Burlington. Sold in 1845 to Amos C. Spear of Burlington. 1894, property to Julia H. Spear, niece of John P. Howard. At her death in 1897, the house went to Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Pease. House was used for barracks of S.A.T.C. from October 1918 to May 1919." The view is looking north up South Prospect Street. The Medical College is visible at the end of the elm and utility pole lined street. Two cars are parked along the left side of the street. College Street is on the left of the photograph. The Campus House is a three story brick building on a stone foundation. The white-framed windows have black shutters. A white square cupola sits on the roof amid brick chimneys. A white porch is on the left side of the house. In front of the house are a small fire hydrant and a utility pole. Behind the house are a conifer tree and a couple more houses. The season is winter.
