Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
1946
Description:
The architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White in New York did this drawing from 1946. It is a plan for the dormitories of Chittenden, Buckham, and Wills. It is titled "Dormitory for Men." The building is a four-story stone structure with marble or other stone accents along the roof and corners, these serve to separate the building into three sections, and in between the first and second floors. There is an entrance at either end of the building that emerges from the faťade of the building. Above each entrance is a porch with an iron railing. The window directly above each door is two stories tall. The sketch includes small shrubs and trees in front of the dormitory. Behind the dormitory are large trees. UVM Campus

Wills Hall
Town:
Burlington
County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2006?
Description:
This image is a colored photograph of Wills Residence Hall on the Main Campus of the University of Vermont. The picture was taken in the winter on a clear, sunny day on the UVM green, facing the East. There is a good covering of snow on the ground and from the shadow cast across the photograph it appears to have been taken in the afternoon. The building is four stories high with three deciduous larger trees in front of it, occupying mostly the northern half of East-facing side. Several large coniferous trees are sticking up behind the building. The parking lot behind and to the left of the building cannot be seen in the photograph. In the background the new addition to Fletcher Allen Hospital can be seen to the left and Rowell Hall can be seen on the right.
