Town:

County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:

Description:
In the more recent photograph, a precise re-shoot was not possible; however, other photos indicate that the courts were located near the site of the University of Vermont Bookstore or Royal Tyler Theater. This photograph shows a few cars the parking lot behind the bookstore looking north to the previous location of the tennis courts. With the Bookstore, Bailey Howe Library, and Marsh Life Science the area appears to have changed quite drastically since the time of the historic photograph. In the middle of the photograph, a woman stands in the parking lot talking on a cell phone. The season is summer. For more information on UVM and UVM buildings check out www.uvm.edu/campus UVM Campus

County:
Chittenden
State:
Vermont
Date:
2010-01-08
Description:
Winter scene of the UVM campus. The Davis Student Center (completed ~2007) is at the center of the photo. In front is an open snow covered area with a sidewalk and lamppost at right. There are two deciduous trees in the open space. More deciduous and conifer trees are visible to the right of the Davis Center, across Rt 2.To the left of the Davis Center are Terril Hall, the Aiken Center, and the Marsh science building. The UVM water tower looms behind Marsh. Image LS10131_02 shows the former UVM bookstore in the foreground. That building was torn down ~2008 and the area re-landscaped. The Davis Center and the trees along Rt 2 are seen in both images. The Davis Center houses the current campus bookstore, computer depot, radio station, several dining facilities, offices of student organizations, and meeting and conference rooms.
