Description:: This color image shows a house at 111 Lyman Avenue in Burlington, Vermont. The house is purple with yellow trim. There are steps leading up to the covered orange front door. Two windows are seen of either side of the front door. A brick chimney is at the center of the roof above the front door. A white house is seen to the left side of the image with a large tree partially obstructing it from view. Shrubs stand on the front lawn, as do trees on either side and behind the house. A fence on the right side of the house is visible enclosing the back of the house. A sidewalk in front of the house extends from either end of the image. A yellow sled appears on the lawn between the sidewalk and the street. In the immediate foreground, the paved street is visible. In the background, another house is seen as well as a driveway on the right side of the street. The season appears to be late winter or early spring as the snow that remains on the ground appears to be melting. The day is sunny and there are no clouds visible in the sky. In the historic image, there is no railing on either side of the steps leading up to the front door. The foliage is considerably less around the house and surrounding area. The shrubbery is carefully trimmed and a small tree is standing between the sidewalk and the street in the foreground of the image.

Description:: When we bought our house in 1999 we received this photograph of our house, taken in the 1930s, from the previous owners. Notice the absence of a house in our back yard. It was built some time in the 1950s. This is at the southeast corner of Lyman and Richardson. Image shows home on sloping street with sidewalk and small tree as well as bushes and other homes nearby. Summer.
