Title:
Construction on Langdon Street Bridge
Town:
Montpelier
County:
Washington
State:
Vermont
Date:
1928
Description:
This image shows construction on a bridge on Langdon Street, manufactured by the American Bridge Company. The bridge crosses the Winooski River, which can be seen through the bridge. The bridge is a Warren Truss, and is only partially completed. There is a metal railing on the far side of the arched siding, and wooden planks at the edge of the bridge. On the far side of the river are several tall buildings and the steeple of a church can be seen. On the near side is a staircase leading up to a covered balcony. In the distance are leafy deciduous trees. This information comes from "Crossings, A History of Vermont Bridges" by Robert McCullough. Jeff Cueto writes on 2020-11-14: The North Branch of the Winooski River, not the mainstem.
