|
- Date:
- 1930 - 1931
- Description:
- This image shows the building of the Charles N. Vilas Bridge which connects Bellows Falls, VT with Walpole, NH across the Connecticut River. The arches are supported by wooden structures, and there is a pile of lumber beneath the further arch. There are lampposts and railing lining the length of the bridge. On the near side of the bridge, there are railroad tracks. On the far side are several buildings. Behind that is a steep wooded slope with some rock faces visible. This information comes from "Crossings, A History of Vermont Bridges" by Robert McCullough.
